ABSTRACT
Microarrays technology is a powerful research tool, them allow us to design trials with many kinds of biological samples (proteins, nucleic acids and tissues), in each trial thousand of molecules can be evaluated simultaneously, in another hand with techniques like PCR, RT-PCR, western blot, northern blot, southern blot, only a few number of molecules can be evaluated by assay.
Microarrays technique, allow us to study genetic expression profiles in different experimental conditions (illness, drug treatment, etc.), in order to found polimorfisms, DNA methylations, punctual mutations and to identify pharmaceutic targets.
This kind of test provides us valuable information, but ignorance about its research applications and the expensive material required to execute microarrays technology in the laboratory, are facts that limit their use in the research laboratory.
Development of new microarray platforms, and improvement of new detectors systems, promise that microarrays will be trials more sensitive and with many news applications in the genomic field.
