The Takayasu’s arteritis is an illness inflammatory chronicle that affects the big and intermediate blood vessels, with frequent damage of the aortic arc and its branches. In 1908 Mikito Takayasu, professor of ophthalmology in the Kanazawa University, Japan, reported a young woman with retinal neovascularization and absence of pulses in the superior extremities. Although cases of Takayasu’s arteritis was recognized by savory, davy and other, in the previous century, Caccamise and Wthman, in 1952, introduced the Takayasu’s name. Other synonyms of the illness are: Illness without pulse, syndrome of aortic arc, aortic half syndrome, occlusive thromboaortopathy and aorteritis no specific. To weigh of the variety in the nomenclature, the Takayasu’s arteritis is recognized universally.
