Frecuencia de sobrepeso y correlación con el estilo de vida en adolescentes

ABSTRACT
Introduction. Children and adolescentes spend more time watching tv or video games, instead working out enough. The pourpose of this study was to explore association among overweight frecuence and adolescents life style.
Materials and methods. A descriptive study in transversal cohort from February 2006 to February 2007. 311 patients from 10 to 18 years that were seen in the service of Teenager Medicine, in the Fray Antonio Alcalde Hospital. Classification of the groups on the tables CDC2000 growthcharts with a BMI (Body Mass Index) per Age-Sex.There were included BMI in the percentiles 5 to ‹85 control group and in the percentile ›95 like the problem group.
Results: In the universe of 311 patients the 55.6% are females, with a middle age of 13.3 years. BMI: percentile ‹5=2.8%, percentile 5-‹85:60.8%, percentile 85-‹95=20%, percentile ›95=16.3% The 68% of the patients with overweight are not according with their weight; three or more ingestions per day is the 68.6%; without physical activity 64.7%; › two hours watching TV 62.7%. Escolar development with score of ›8 45.5%.
Conclusions: The 16.3% of the patients have overweight, according with more than two hours watching tv per day. With risk factors like ansiety, that conditionate a higer ingestion of food.
