ABSTRACT
Purpose: To analyze the measures of anterior chamber angle in healthy eyes with optical coherence tomography. Methods: In a retrospective observational study we analyze the angle of 108 eyes of 97 patients of 19 images taken with optical coherence tomography from September 2008 to 20 of May of 2008. We analyze angular measures in images taken in dark conditions. Measures of angle opening distance (AOD 500 y 750) and trabecular-iris space area (TISA 500 y 750) were determined taking like reference the scleral spur, angle measures were taken in nasal and temporal quadrants. Results: Angles of 108 eyes of 97 patients were analyzed: 49 men, 48 women. Age 31 years (SD ± 12.43 from 9 to 80 years). The AOD 500 measured were 0.569 mm (SD 0.284), AOD 750: 0.804 mm (SD 0.367), TISA 500: 0.193 mm2 (SD 0.096), TISA 750: 0.364 mm2 (SD 0.179). Conclusions: The angular measures taken with optical coherence tomography, Visante, in dark conditions reported that the population of the West of Mexico presented AOD 500 and T ISA 500 resembling the reported data. It is important to make angular measurements in greater groups of Mexican population to determine the normal variation of the angular values to compare it with glaucoma angles and to determine the angular values of risk for angular closing.
