ABSTRACT
15 strains of the respiratory sincitial virus were isolated in two outbreaks when ocurred in Habana city during the months of October to January (1994-1995) and in October 1996. The study of characterisation and analysis of the antigenic variability was carried out with a panel of 10 monoclonal antibodies which recognise lineal epitopes of the G protein. Two reference strains were used: the Long strain and the A/Mon/3/88 strain. The ELISA method was used for the tests. The results showed the variability of the G protein between the isolations and their antigenic relation with the Long prototype strain, besides confirming that all the strains circulating during those outbreaks, antigenically corresponded to the A subgroup.REFERENCES
