ABSTRACT
Aim. To identify the frequency of CMVH in women with spontaneous abortion.
Material and methods. 182 samples of DNA in the whole blood and placenta tissues of women that had spontaneous abortion were studied in the first trimester of gestation. PCR assays were done in order to determine presence of CMVH in the samples.
Results. 39 (21.4%) of the blood samples and 34 (18.7%) of placenta studies of PCR were positive for the virus.
Conclusions. Results are in accord with the CMVH infection is one of the main causes of spontaneous abortion in first trimester of the gestation.
