ABSTRACT
The airway obstruction of some patients could be considered an etiology factor concerning malocclusion in the development of the formation of a malocclusion, but this has often been neglected as auxiliary in a diagnosis. The objective of this study was Implementing McNamara’s measure analysis with the Bimler, Wits and Steiner which you used for the skeletal diagnosis. The study was made in 2004 year in the Department of Orthodontics in the DEPeI of The Faculty of Odontology in The UNAM. We selected 100 cephalograms of the Chihuahua City, Mexico that were to undergo orthodontic therapy. The results obtained were compared with the established norms by Mc Namara, relating them with the skeletal classification of each patient. According to the results we found a bigger frequency of obstruction in patients with skeletal class II, presenting more in men than women, and a few proportion in class I with a 18 % and 2% in class III.
