ABSTRACT

Objective: The purpose of this study was to find the differences in two groups of women: with and without sexual dysfunction, studying marital communication and sort of communication: there were two groups: 100 women with sexual dysfunction and 100 women without sexual dysfunction. Material and methods: It was a descriptive, transversal, and retrospective study with a non comparative experimental design, of one sample divided in two groups with independent observances. It was used the clinical codificated history of feminine sexuality and the scales of marital communication and sort of communication. Results: There were significative differences in all the areas of marital communication obtaining less level in the group with sexual dysfunction. In the sort of communication was found differences in negative and reserve style: In discriminative functions it was found significant results in the dimension of work and negative communication style. Conclusions: The presence of sexual dysfunction in the woman is a big symptom to be able to determine if her or its couple, they need psychological attention. A good level of marital communication in all its dimensions is an indicator of good marital functions, having a bigger weight the communication related with the work. The positive style of communication perceived in herself and her spouse, its also associates to a good sexual functions in the couple.
