ABSTRACT
Objectives: evaluate the efficacy of ketamine/midazolam
versus ketamine/diazepam, for bilateral tubaric occlusion with local anesthesia.
Material and Methods: Two hundred voluntary patients scheduled for bilateral tubaric occlusion with local anesthesia were admitted in the study. Two groups of patients were randomly assigned to receive ketamine (0.10 mg/kg) + midazolam (20 µg/kg): group I (n =100) or ketamine (0.10 mg/kg) + diazepam (250 µg/kg): group 2 (n= 100). Arterial blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and spO
2 were evaluated during the pre, trans and postoperative periods in both groups. The statistical analysis was performed with t students test and c
2 test.
Results: 99 patients in group I (ketamine/midazolam) showed hemodynamic stability, in group 2, 95 patients showed moderated hemodynamic alterations and two patients showed reversible respiratory arrest (
p ‹ 0.05).
Conclusions: Ketamine/midazolam combination is a safe technique as an adjuvant to the local anesthesia for tubaric bilateral occlusion and produces a more rapid recovery than ketamine/diazepam combination.
