ABSTRACT
Pilomatrixoma was described for the first time by Malherbe and Chenantains in the year of 1880. They referred to a tumor of benign characteristics, which they called «calcified epithelioma of sebaceous cells». Until the year of 1989 over 1,500 cases had been described. Skin tumors, in adults and children, have multiple etiologies. In several cases, a biopsy is required in order to confirm the diagnosis. The biopsy technique through aspiration with a fine needle (BAAF) has been traditionally used in order to confirm the presumptive diagnosis. Within the diversity of neoplasias that may be present in the skin, there are clinical features that are characteristic of a certain pathologic entity. The performance of two or three specific studies is good enough for their diagnosis. This study describes a clinical case of a female patient of 16 years old with volume increase in the preauricular area with a two-year evolution period, asymptomatic, palpable, well-defined, without background of infection process in the right masseteric area, with diagnosis and surgical treatment for pilomatrixoma.
