ABSTRACT
Envenomation from the bite of a brown recluse spider causes a wide range of clinical manifestations, from mild itching to death. The event is very rare in Sonora, a Northwestern Mexican Border State, so that the medical knowledge about clinics and epidemiology of loxoscelism is relatively scarce. For such a reason, we describe a fatal episode of systemic loxoscelism in a child with concomitant illnesses that might have contributed to exacerbate the clinical and pathological manifestations of the venom’s brown recluse spider.
