ABSTRACT
Objective: To show the utility of the uroflowmetry in the children with disabilities.
Material and Methods: Observational and cross-sectional prospective study, from the 1st. of March 2003 to the 30th. of October 2007. All the patients of the cerebral injury clinic, congenital and genetic disorders, neuromuscular and osteoarticulate disorders; that fulfilled the inclusion criteria. We practiced an uroflowmetry in our patients with a Medical Laborie Technologies UDS64IIs/III equipment. The following variables were studied: Type of flow, maximum flow, average flow, Time of mictión, Time of flow, mictional Volume. The statistical analysis was made with measures of central tendency and frequency tables.
Results: 141 patients met our inclusion criteria. The average age was of 8.3 years, the average miction volume was of 127,93 milliliters. The average maximum flow was of 15,40 ml/seg. The average time of flow was of 13,38 seconds. The average of the time of miction was of 13,99 seconds.
Conclusion: The uroflowmetry is useful to evaluate subclinical alterations in the mictional mechanics in children with neuromuscular disabilities.
