ABSTRACT
In this article we review the last classification of renal tumors and the more distinctive morphological and cytogenetic characteristics. We analyze the epidemiology of cromophobe renal cell carcinoma; its morphologic, histochemical and microscopic ultra structure. We describe the more frequent immunohistochemical techniques for cromophobe renal cell carcinoma, the differential diagnosis of its classic and eosinophilic variants and other renal tumors, particularly with the oncocytoma and renal clear cell carcinoma. We present a patient case with eosinophilic variant of cromophobe renal cell carcinoma initially misdiagnosed as oncocytoma.
