RESUMEN
El presente artículo de esta serie tiene como finalidad hablar sobre la relación entre los conocimientos médicos y su aplicación en la práctica clínica. Entre las múltiples clasificaciones del conocimiento médico, sobresalen dos: una sobre el nivel de conocimiento y la otra sobre la conciencia que tiene el clínico sobre sus conocimientos. Para obtener respuesta a un cuestionamiento médico es necesario plantear una “pregunta clínica bien formulada”. Asimismo, se presentan algunos estudios realizados para determinar los requerimientos de información del clínico y la forma en que el médico los actualiza mediante libros, cursos y revistas médicas, en particular sus preferencias por distintos tipos de artículos y cómo los utiliza para valorarlos. A continuación, explicamos brevemente el paradigma de la Medicina basada en evidencias (MBE), los cambios que introduce en la práctica de la medicina, cómo jerarquiza las evidencias procedentes de revistas médicas y los pasos para que el médico pueda practicarla.
Finalmente, se mencionan algunos aspectos de la problemática de la traslación de los conocimientos entre la teoría y la praxis médica.
