The quality of life in epileptic patients determinated using the scale QOLIE-31. Hospital Central Militar 2005

ABSTRACT
Introduction. The incidence of epilepsy in the economically active population is high, it leads into lost days and a social delay. At Hospital Central Militar, we attend a great number of patients with epilepsy and joined to the cerebrovascular disease it is the most frequent cause at neurology service. Independently that the military patients go out of the active services so it produces a social and economic assaults.
Objetives. To determine the quality of life in patients with epilepsy by using the Qolie-31 test and to apply the test.
Type of work. Descriptive and observational study. To describe the quality of life by using the Qolie-31 test by knowing the following items: Worry about the crisis, complete valuation of the quality of life, emotional well-being, fatigue, cognitive functions, pharmacological effects, social relationships.
Results. Of the 36 patients, the half percent presented a bad quality of life according to the Qolie-31 test and three percent presented a good quality of life as in other studies in Mexico and in many other countries. Finally, it is important to say that this one is the first study at the army.
