ABSTRACT
Background. The tuberculosis is known from ancient times, with frequent affection to the system genitourinary through the road hematogenous affecting the kidney in which produces inflammatory changes and later on heal them in the parenchyma and systems collectors, these changes can be detected with image studies like the excretory urography. These anatomical alterations are also detected by means of the ultrasonography.
Material and methods. During the period of January 02 at the 31 of July of 2002 were included 21 patients. All the patients presented positive studies of PCR in urine and they were submitted to a renal Ultrasonography and excretory urography of which the analysis was carried out by the investigators.
Results. It was a preponderant affection in the feminine sex 18 against 3 masculine. The main group assigned work is in the fourth decade of the life (33%), the discoveries but commonly detected by ultrasonography are the following ones: lesions of mixed echogenicity smaller than 15 mm. in 19 patients, tract lineal hypoechoic in 9 patients and the decrease of the echogenicity of the fatty perirenal in 2 patients. The discoveries for Urography are irregularity in the contour of the chalices in 9 patients, injure incipient in chalice in 6 patients and the radiological absence of data in 4 patients.
Conclusions. The ultrasonography is a study non invasive, easy to carry out, not expensive and an effective tool for the diagnose and pursuit of the renal tuberculosis.
