ABSTRACT
Between 1985 and 1995, there were treated 10 patients with untreated fracture dislocation of the elbow. The average age at the time of the fracture was 9.1 years. The time between the injury and the first orthopaedic visit was 11 month in average. There were five patients with elbow extension contracture, three with flexion contracture and two with malalignement. The treatment was surgical in all cases, requering open reduction and K-wire fixation, bone resection and alignement osteotomy. Inmobilization with a posterior splint for an average of 24 days after which physiotherapy was initiated. The mean follow up was 3.7 years after surgery. The range of motion strength and function was improved in all cases without neurovascular disorders. All patients are satisfied with their results.
