Clinical and Diagnostical Aspects of Acute Pancreatitis in Children. Seventeen Cases Rewiewed.

ABSTRACT
Objective: Know the epidemiological and clinical aspects of patients with acute pancreatitis.
Material and Methods: Seventeen cases with diagnosis of pancreatitis acute were reviewed and the next variable were
studied: Age, gender, causes, profiles laboratorial and xray, treatment and evolution.
Results: The group of patients between five to ten years were the most affected, were the males prevailed (11 cases). Ten
of them were idiopathic. The inespecify abdominal pain and vomits were the symptoms more associated to this illness.
The quantify of serum amylase in all cases and lipase in only 7 cases, helped to make sure the diagnosis. In 80% of the
cases, the pancreas ultrasound revealed edema of it. The treatment that the total of cases received was the international
described for this entity.
Conclusions: The acute pancreatitis on pediatrics has low mortality and is not a common cause of acute abdominal pain;
however in children with acute abdominal pain in scholar ages is a diagnostic to consider, where the opportune determination
of amylase and lipase lead us to a precocious diagnosis and a more bening clinical course.
