ABSTRACT
With the objective of offering to the burned children an alternative treatment, of low cost and high impact, the allantoidal
membrane are used as a treatment for local wound treatment for burns wich continue being the second cause of accidents in pediatric
age. The present review article is endorsed by our experience in the handling 182 cases of burned children in the lost decade as much
it private as institutional practice. We have obtained the allantoidal membrane in cordination with obstetric and gynecology services
and primary physicians of women clinically healthy, that previously were carried out studies for B hepatitis, HIV and sicologic test
for syplities. These membranes are washed with saline solution, are sterilized and stored at 2ºC, later on a surgycal debridement is
performed on the burned patient under anesthesic and then proceed to the application of the membranes that are previously washed again. In a 7 day term a detachment of the membrane is observed without leaving any sequela. A satisfactory response of our patients
with the use of allantoidal membranes, speaks of the kindness of the treatment additionally of the low cost for the hospital and a high
impact benefit for all health services and the opportunity that parents of low income or urban and rural excluded areas, can be
attended with satisfactory results.
