ABSTRACT
Dupuytren´s disease causes disability because of the development of finger flexion deformities, with distinct nodule and cord formation on palmar fascia. This results in physical shortening of the diseased fascial tissue through a combination of cell-mediated contraction and matrix remodeling secondary to fibrogenic cytokines. Dupuytren fibroblasts, particularly nodule miofibroblasts, exhibited increase force generation and a delay in reaching tensional homeostasis. This is the fundamental processes involved in the pathogenesis and progression of clinical flexion deformities. We present images characteristics of Dupuytren´s disease.
