ABSTRACT
Case report of a male six-year old patient with a firearm wound penetrating 0.5 mm below right eye intern edge. Simple x-rays show a foreign body in retropharyngeal space. CAT demonstrates a fracture in lacrimal bone, dense soft tissue in ethmoid’s papyraceous plate, and a metallic foreing body in retropharyngeal space (left side). Nasopharyngoscopy shows no nasal cavity damage but adenoids hyperplasia in nasopharynx; projectile entrance wasn’t found. Clindamycin, corticosteroids, and paracetamol constitute medical treatment. Surgical exploration was performed with general anesthesia and transoral endoscopy. Hyperplasic adenoid tissue was found in posterior pharyngeal wall; visceral space side edge was explored and a small wound in superior constrictor muscle was founded. During the exploration trough this orifice a projectile (plumb diabolo) was detected and extracted with Blakesley clip. Wound was washed with benzal and sterile water. Clindamycin and paracetamol was prescribed during seven days. Fortunately, literature reported after-effect associated facial penetrating wound wasn’t found.REFERENCES
