ABSTRACT
Abscesses of deep spaces of the neck are an illness that may present a rapid evolution with extension towards other spaces. Morbidity and mortality of this disease is closely related to immunological state of patient: its evolution is more aggressive in immunologically compromised patients. Extension of infectious process towards mediastinum is related to high morbidity and mortality, thus, its timely diagnosis and management are very important.
