ABSTRACT

Atrial septal aneurysm (ASA) is a sacular deformity of the interatrial septum in the foramen ovale area; it may protrude towards to the right, to the left atrium or to both atria. It may present as an isolated malformation or it may be associated to a variety of congenital or acquired cardiopathies. On occasion it may be associated to cerebrovascular ischemic events or to cardiac arrythmias
