Sclerotic basal cell carcinoma; reconstruction by using Mohs’ micrographic surgery

ABSTRACT

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common cutaneous cancer in individuals older than 50 years of age. Is usually a slow growing tumor and not aggressive in the great majority of cases, although in a few times it can cause great local destruction. There are different treatment options which include curettage and cautery, cryosurgery, surgical excision with predetermined margins and Moh´s micrographic surgery. We present the case of a 37 year old male patient with a diagnosis of a morpheaform type of basal cell carcinoma, histologic subtype infiltrative, who was treated with Mohs’ surgery and reconstruction with an advance flap and graft.
