ABSTRACT

Uveal malignant melanoma is the most common primary intraocular malignancy in the adult population. There is a possibility of an unknown heritable component playing an important etiological role in it.
Clinical features include asymptomatic cases discovered by ophthalmologic examination or visual impairment due to tumoral mass and retinal detachment.
Diagnosis is made by modalities like clinical examination, fluorescein angiography, ocular ultrasound and immunohistochemical techniques, providing crucial information for specific treatment.
There is very little information about uveal malignant melanoma in the Mexican population. A case is reported making clinical and pathological considerations, diagnostic approaches and therapeutic controversial modalities.
