ABSTRACT
Purpose. Posterior tibial spine fractures are rare entities and sometimes are not diagnosticated in the first evaluation. We report an original technique for the treatment of these injuries to the knee. Case report. The case that we present is a displaced and comminuted fracture of the posterior tibial spine in a 16 year old man that required surgical treatment. The technique consisted in arthroscopic reduction of the fracture using an ACL-guide, and percutaneous fixation with threaded wires from the anterior margin of the tibia using fluoroscopy. Good reduction and stability of the fragment were achieved by this procedure. Results. The evolution has been satisfactory, with a stable knee and with full range of motion after twenty four months. Discussion. There are several techniques described in the literature, but this one is original and the author think that is an easy and safe procedure. It does not require an additional training in arthroscopic surgery like those techniques using screws, cerclages or sutures in these fractures.REFERENCES
