ABSTRACT

Punctural headache refractory to conventional treatment in the HIV positive patient is seen in 2.5% of cases. For the general population the blood patch is considered the gold standard of the management; nevertheless, it’s use in HIV population is a matter of concern. We present the case of a HIV positive patient with post punctural headache for whom we were consulted for treatment. Treatment possibilities are analyzed focusing on the convenience of the use of blood patch, analyzing also the existing literature.
