ABSTRACT
Objective. To evaluate clinically to medium term to the patients with subacromial impingement of shoulder under opened surgical treatment. Material and methods. A descriptive cross-sectional study was made in 64 patients with the diagnosis of subacromial impingement of shoulder, under open surgical treatment, during the period of January to December of the 2003, by six surgeons, with the objective to evaluate the functionality of the shoulder operated by means of a functional scale of the UCLA (0-30 points). It was made descriptive statistic by means of simple frequencies, measures of central tendency and dispersion. Results. With a pursuit of 12 ± 6 months, the medium one in age was of 52 years, feminine sex predominated with 69% of the patients; the shoulder that was injured with more frequency was the right in 61%, it obtained a good functional result (medium 24 points) and one satisfaction of 84%. Conclusion. The clinical result of the patients with subacromial impingement of shoulder under opened surgical treatment was good according to the functional scale of the UCLA.
