ABSTRACT

Among the many benign and malignant renal tumors that appear in infancy, the teratoma is the rarest. Many are retroperitoneal teratomas with secondary renal invasion, other represent metastatic mixed germinal tumors with a teratomatous component or a teratoid Wilms tumor which has many similarities with a teratoma. Lastly some could be metastasis from a gonadal or extragonadal teratoma. A case of a four month old child with increased abdominal volume since birth who had a left kidney tumor diagnosed as mature teratoma, is reported.
