ABSTRACT
Tuberculosis involving the spine is observed in less than 1% of patients with tuberculosis and has been associated with lung infection in 10% of cases. Spondylodiscitis is a granulomatous infection of the spine and adjacent soft tissues, it is originated by hematogenous spread of the bacillum or through the lymphatics in the lung; cases complicated with epidural abscess show presence of debris and granulomatous tissue in the epidural space. It is a rare complication and its diagnosis is delayed with concomitant increase in morbidity and mortality. The MRI is the preferred tool for the diagnosis with precise location and extention of the infection. In this report we present a patient with spondylodiscitis due to
Mycobacterium tuberculosis, presence of epidural abscess and multiple paravertebral abscesses involving both psoas muscles.
