ABSTRACT
Pulmonary ultrasonography is a useful tool for pleuropulmonary diseases diagnosis in the critically ill patient. Images obtained with the ultrasonography results from the interaction between the ultrasonic wave with the pleura, pulmonary parenchima and the liquid-air interphase their all classified by horizontal and vertical. Adequate identification and interpretation require a knowledge curve. The objective of the present work is to show to the medical community of the Clinic Foundation Medica Sur the general principles of pulmonary ultrasonography and its application in the critically ill patient.
