ABSTRACT
Introduction. Some patients with plasmacytoma diagnosis have from a painful lesion of the bone, until an infiltration of plasmatic mononuclear cells. I other times they can be discovered by a x-ray study by another pathological condition. The plasmacytoma is a strange tumor, some investigators have a lot of interest in its nature and the relationship with the multiple myeloma it seems confused. Objective. To know the diagnoses methods, to make it in early form and this way to avoid complications like the fracture in pathological place and the neurological commitment, also creating an approach to provide the medical or surgical treatment. Material and method. This study was made in the Hospital Juárez of Mexico, in eight patients with the diagnosis of vertebral plasmacytoma at dorsal-lumbar level, in a lapse of five years. The diagnosis was based on; clinical symptoms, laboratory, x-ray image, ACT and MRI. The eight patients hand fracture in pathological place and neurological commitment. At five they were made vertebrectomy for previous approach and the placement of bony autologus implant and metallic fixation. To three patients was made later approach with laminectomy, liberation of the marrow and sublaminar fixation. Results. Six patients have evolved satisfactorily up to the end of the study, and two of them died evolving to multiple myeloma, two years after the diagnosis. Conclusion. Although plasmacytoma exists in other bones and extraskeletal place, the most frequent is the one from the spine to dorsal-lumbar level. It is certain that the multiple myeloma is a continuation of the plasmacytoma. When making an early diagnosis, we can avoid or to prolong the time of that continuity and to give a better quality of live to our patients.REFERENCES
