ABSTRACT
Objective. It is important to diagnosis the disease in order to take care and offer the specific treatment, opportune during the fist manifestations, avoiding: vertebral instability, neurological commitment or vertebral xiphotic deformity. Material and methods. We evaluated 40 patients with the diagnose of Pott disease toracolumbar in a period of January of 2000 to October of 2005. To all the patients the following studies were made to them: hematic biometry, speed of globular sedimentation, studies in tinkle and esputo, cultures of expectoration or of tinkle, immunological: PPD to 15 patients I am made study to them of ELISA for tuberculosis bacillus, to 13 patients immunochromatography and 4 with PCR. To all the patients we give antibiotics against the tuberculosis by 13 months, and to 30 patients surgical treatment to present neurological commitment and vertebral instability. Results. Four paraplegics patients did not recover the neurological function, the rest satisfactorily evolved with later intersomatic artrodesis and/or posterior and elimination of the suffering. Conclusions. In the last decade this disease because of the increase of the natural disasters has resurged (floods, earthquakes, others) and as a result of the poverty of the world and AIDS. The immunological studies, give a more precise result us in less time and support the valuation of the effectiveness of the medical and surgical treatment.REFERENCES
