Cantrell’s pentalogy

ABSTRACT
Introduction. The Cantrell’s Pentalogy is an uncommon syndrome constituted by different congenital malformations of the body’s midline. Include: 1) defect of the lower part of sternum, 2) diaphragm ventral defect, 3) pericardium defect, 4) abdominal wall defect (omphalocele) and 5) cardiac anomalies.
Case report. Female, full-term new born, 40 weeks by Capurro, with normal parents, with the complete presentation of Cantrell’s pentalogy. She lived for 32 days until she died by cardiac insufficiency.
Conclusions. There are a few cases reported with good outcome, the prognosis will depend of the cardiac anomalies. But, for a good outcome we must have a complete medical team including pediatrics, neonatology, cardiology, pediatric surgeons and cardiovascular surgeons besides of the medical technology.
