ABSTRACT
In the last year, recent concepts about etiology and pathogenesis of epidermoid anal cancer have been developed. Participation of human papillomaviruses (HPV) oncogenic subtypes 16 and 18, has been demonstrated. Some authors accept that anal epidermoid cancer is a sexually transmitted disease. Patients with immunesuppression related to human immunossupression virus (HIV) represent a population at risk.
