ABSTRACT
Porphyrias are a group of inherited or acquired disorders that result from partial deficiency in activities of the enzymes of the Hem biosynthetic pathway. Each porphyria is associated with a specific defective enzyme. Porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT) is the only porphyria with both familial and acquired forms, it is caused by a deficiency of the activity of the enzyme uroporphyrinogen descarboxylase and present tipically in adults both occasionally in children, it appears mainly like photosensibility reactions. Recently it has been associated with HIV infection. We report a case of a male patient with PCT and AIDS.
