ABSTRACT
Gerstmann’s syndrome of development is an alteration that happens predominantly in children of scholastic age and affects the effective performance of this type, the main symptoms are right-left disorientation, digital agnosia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia. In the smallest children of prescholastic age can be appreciated nonsymbolic symptoms like premise of a difficult development of superior functions in formation, usually are the assumption of symbolic functions in formation. Right-left disorientation and the digital agnosia denote failures of nonsymbolic functions that, in relation to an injury in the bilateral parieto-temporo-occipital region in inferior ages, brings difficulties in the symbolic functions like a preliminary of the Gerstmann’s syndrome. Initial Luria battery is a valuable instrument that allows to describe and to understand the development of inferior and superior functions of the central nervous system like substrates of superior psychological functions in formation to inferior ages. The description and qualitative analysis of a case will allow us to deepen in the pursuit and psychoeducative direction of children who present this neurological alteration or symptoms near this syndrome, as well as to delimit in inferior ages the components that stimulate the syndrome that denotes slowness and difficulties in the later learning.
