Dental wear and bruxism

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The bruxism is a common manifestation and multifactorial that it can produce dental waste. Objective: To identify the relationship of dental waste and bruxism in university students young. Material and methods: In prospective, longitudinal, observational form, by means of an odontologic exam and direct questionnaire of the nuisances and perception of the bruxism and their dental waste. Results: 78 identified university students were interviewed with dental waste; 24 feminine (30.76%) and 54 masculine (69.23%) that perceive the waste dental 65 cases (83.33%); 22 feminine (34.92%) with half age 22.5 years old and standard deviation of 7.7781, 41 masculine (65.07%) with half age 30.5 years old and standard deviation of 19.01918. That didn’t perceive until that moment the waste dental 15 cases (19.23%), most without conscience of squeaking the teeth at night and without nuisances, but with very clear perception of bruxism in emotional situations and perception of dental waste in most of the cases. To assist appropriately to the bruxopata with dental waste they should take in bill family, emotional factors and temporo-maxillary alterations that should be diagnosed and treated. Conclusions: It is very high the dental waste in university students with bruxism, is prevalence of the masculine sex with few nuisances and perception of the waste.
