Optimization of computerized tomography of skull in slight cranioencephalic trauma

ABSTRACT
Introduction and objectives: The prognosis of patients with slight cranioencephalic trauma is not safe when it only settles down on the base of score according to Glasgow’s scale, being excellent the contribution of TC of skull. Nevertheless, when a so great volume of patients appears determination of risk factors of undergoing secondary complications to trauma allows the optimization of use of this resource. We investigated relation of different symptoms and signs from the patient with the appearance of complicated slight cranioencephalic trauma.
Material and methods: To sample of 252 patients, surveyed of continuous form, a study multivaried with aid of the package of statistical programs SPSS/PC+ practiced to them.
Results: The variables intensity, trauma and physical examination showed a high efficiency in the prediction of all degrees of complicated slight cranioencephalic trauma. On the other hand, the simptomatology was fundamentally related to the appearance of abnormalities in the TC of skull and the detection of craneal fracture with the necessity of neuroquirurgic intervention.
Conclusions: The factors prognoses of relevance for the detection of complicated slight cranioencephalic trauma are: traumatisms of great intensity, appearance of abnormalities in neurological the physical examination and detection of craneal fracture. On this base the algorithms for the protocolized handling of these patients must be applied.
