ABSTRACT
Antecedents. The respiratory infections in children who attend day-care centers and schools are a problem of public health by the infect recurrent derivative of the lack of suitable measures of prevention and inefficiency of the prescribed treatments.
Objective. To study and to evaluate the effectiveness of a immunoestimulant formed by ribosomales fractions of:
Haemophilus influenzae, Sptreptoccocus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes and
Klebsiella pneumoniae that favors the immunological protection and stimulates the defense mechanisms.
Patients and method: 94 patients who divided themselves in two groups (A and B) assigned at random, of prospective, longitudinal and comparative way studied. The patients of the group A received the immunoestimulant and those of group B were the group control (they did not receive the immunoestimulant).
Results. Was both a noticeable difference with statistical meaning between groups. The patients who received the immunoestimulant had favorable effects, like: diminution of the frequency and intensity of the respiratory infections, less episodes of disease and less days with the same one, less days of fever and treatment with antibiotic and greater resistance to the infect due to the stimulation of the specific and non specific immunity.
Conclusions. The prevention of respiratory infections in the children is a measurement desirable and necessary to diminish the incidence and prevalence of the same ones. One of the resources that are demonstrated to effectiveness in the diminution of the episodes and duration of such is the prevention with the immunoestimulant Ribovac.
