Tuberculosis and systemic lupus erythematosus. Which imitates which?

ABSTRACT

Traditionally tuberculosis and systemic lupus erythematosus are known as “the great mimickers”. The relation between both diseases is complex, and they frequently share clinical manifestations. In this article we review the overlapping features of the two diseases, including genetic, immunologic, pharmacologic and clinical features.
