ABSTRACT
Ten total shoulder arthroplasties were performed at the ABC Medical Center between January 1993 and December 1997 in osteoarthritic, reumatoid and aseptic necrosis patients, followed-up for a minimum of two years. At the first year 50% had only mild disconfort and after two years of operation 100% had no pain. Shoulder’s function improved in all patients, while the range of motion increased relatively little. There was no failure. None of the arthroplasties have been removed or revised. There was no lesion of the rotator cuff. In two patients it was necessary to detach the anterior deltoid fibers for exposure and repair it, with no other complications.
