Peri-prosthetic femoral fractures treated through a distal supra-condylar nail, after total knee prosthesis

ABSTRACT

A retrospective review of three patients who suffered a periprosthetic supracondylar fracture, time after being operated on for total knee replacement is reported. Fractures were treated by the retrograde intramedullary nailing. Postoperative outcome was complication free and the returning to their normal activities was after two to three months of operation. No delay or lack of union occurred in present cases. In one woman her prosthesis was the second one.
