ABSTRACT
Objective. Matching anatomic
versus clinical results of treated Colles’ fractures, according to the Green and O’Brian method.
Material and methods. Thirty patients who had unilateral Colles’ fracture were recorded from March through July 1998. Only 19 out of those 30 addressed criteria to be included because of absence of pathology, that could interfere with fracture. A comparison between initial and final clinical and X-ray pictures was carried out. An inquiry was responded by patients.
Results. Regardless of treatment, which was closed in 17 out of those 19 patients, results were excellent in 31%, good in 15%, fair in 26% and poor in 26%. Correlationship was accomplished in only 52% (10 cases) since in the remaining 9, there was good clinical result while X-ray was poor or vice-versa.
Conclusion. There is no absolute correlationship between clinical and radiological results. However, best clinical results were obtained in those individuals who better performed for their home rehabilitation program.
