ABSTRACT
Introduction. Vascular anomalies represent the most common tumors in children. During several centuries many descriptions and classifications have been made but there has not been consensus on a uniform criterion. Only the biological classification of Mulliken and Glowacki in 1982 allowed a definition of the main biological differences between the 2 main groups of vascular anomalies. The objective of this study was to present our experience at the General Hospital “Dr. Manuel Gea Gonzalez” with emphasis on the need of aesthetic reconstruction to obtain better results.
Case report. We present 50 cases (30 females, 12 males, aged between 2 months and 58 years old) of vascular anomalies with different treatments as resection, tissue expansion and local flaps.
Conclusions. Vascular anomalies are a frequent disease which ideally should be treated by a multi-disciplinary team. First treatment with corticosteroids should be precisely prescribed.
