ABSTRACT
Hypohidrotic ectodermic dysplasia is a heterogeneous group of disorders, which affect teeth, skin, hair, fingernails, exocrine and sebaceous glands. The face shows a prominent forehead, low nasal bridge, small nose with hypoplastic wings, prominent supraorbital ridges and lips. In the mouth the most common findings are: hypoplastic mucosal glands, hypodontia or anodontia, as well as conical teeth. We report a 9 year-old female patient with severe oral malformations. Dental treatment consisted in manufacturing aesthetic crowns with celluloid and resin cases for the anterior teeth, as well as removable upper and lower prostheses to replace the anterior and posterior absent teeth. In approximately two and a half years, the removable prostheses will lose their fit, and it will be necessary to modify them or manufacture new ones. Placing fixed, removable or total dental prostheses and overdentures in patients with ectodermic dysplasia is a challenge, due to the poor or null retention of the alveolar process, and the partial or total absence of teeth.
