ABSTRACT
Rhabdomyomas are the most frequent cardiac tumor in childhood. These are considered benign tumors histologically, but malignant physiologically, because sudden and rapid death occur by different mechanisms, like blood flow obstruction, cardiac arrhythmias, congestive hearth failure, hydrops fetalis and others. These tumors are associated with tuberous sclerosis complex in fifty percent, this is a dominant autosomic disease, characterized by mutation in TCS1 and TCS2 genes, with formation of hamartomas in different organs, like brain, skin, lungs and kidneys. We report two cases, one associated with tuberous sclerosis complex and another without any anomalies.
