ABSTRACT
Purpose of study is to determine morphologic and hemodynamic changes in patients with diagnosis of arterial insufficiency in feet by ultrasound Doppler versus without disease. We studied cases and controls in proportion 1:1 with sample of 44 patients both, we included 88 patients had diagnosis of arterial insufficiency and 44 not had it (control group) patients was referred from vascular surgery and control groups arrived to service of radiology for ultrasound Doppler. Morphologic changes showed atheromas, index of pulsatility, arterial diameter and velocity of flux. We analyzed hemodynamic changes as stenosis, spectrum and signal inverted. In patients with positive Doppler, serum cholesterol, triglycerides and reactive protein C were determined. Results: In the group of cases we corroborated the presence of morphological and hemodynamic changes as expected secondary to the original pathology. In the control group morphological changes along with risk factors could contribute to the development of arterial insufficiency. The origin may be explained as secondary to endothelial dysfunction that could develop structural changes that lead to atherosclerosis.
