ABSTRACT
Severe infections of soft tissues have a high rate of mortality because of their progression on muscle nechrosis and production of an elevated amount of circulating toxic products as a result of bacterial metabolism, which often leads to organic failure and death. This is the case of a man who performs as “bull-fighter” and who was impaled by a bull-horn. He developed deep soft tissues infection which affected an equivalent of almost 30% of the body surface. Once infection was diagnosed, immediate wide and open surgery was carried out, as well as an antibiotic program and hyperbaric oxygen. Intensive therapy and the concourse of diverse specialties allowed the patient to succeed.
