Rapid test in the detection of antibodies at HIV in saliva and blood samples

ABSTRACT

With the purpose to determine the sensitivity, specificity and predictive values of a rapid test in the diagnosis of HIV infection we studied 300 outpatients attended in the Hospital of Infectology at La Raza Medical Center. We found sensitivities, specificities and predictive values of 100% with saliva and whole blood samples when was compared with the results of ELISA third generation test and viral load.
